InCanterbury

Our mission with this project is to connect tourists, students, & residents with local businesses in the city like never before.

Endorsed by ASPIRE & Kent Business School

The In Canterbury project aims to create positive economic impact in the city, espeically to the local & small businesses, through our unique platform.

Our app based platform will act as a local search engine, promoting local business & products. It will provide the city’s permanent & transient population with information, offers, deals & experiences at the same time connecting local & small businesses with thier key customer segments.

With “In Canterbury” we will truly drive growth through technology, data, & connectivity.

The High Street in Canterbury sees healthy daily footfall, bringing in large numbers of tourists, students, and other transient population as well as residents.

Canterbury is home to 3 major universities of Kent which attract well over 35000 students annually. There are also 3 UNESCO World Heritage sites in the city brining in a regular influx of tourists.


The challenge, however, is that the average spend per person per visit to the city is only £4

Powered by EIRA we conducted targeted market research to get below insights

about 70% of those surveyed said that they try to look for things to do or other information before or during a visit to the city centre.

over 60% of the people surveyed don’t keep up to date with events in the city because there is no clear option available to do so.

over 80% responded that they would use an app that provided them with events & information about the city.

about 50% of those surveyed stated that they would be welcome to receiving targeted offers on their phone.

almost all survey participants answered that they would be more likely to spend money in the city centre if they were getting a good deal.

about 70% of the participants stated that they will be more careful when shopping in the city, do more research before shopping or avoid busy times & queues.

of the businesses surveyed 85% identified footfall as vital or important to their business.

All the businesses that participated in our survey indicated that would be willing to give discounts if that lead to increased footfall.
